Hamburg Drives the Future of Autonomous Mobility

„From Vision to Reality – Autonomous Mobility“ this was the guiding theme of the exclusive PIONEER Reception, hosted by HEY/MOBILITY HAMBURG and HOLON on June 25 at the Hanse Lounge Hamburg.

Around 80 selected leaders from government, public transport, business, technology, and sports came together to discuss one of the most important transformations in mobility: how autonomous mobility is moving from pilot projects to large-scale deployment.

Hamburg is firmly establishing itself as one of Europe’s leading model regions for the mobility of the future, driven by pioneering pilot projects, close collaboration between the public sector and industry, and a clear long-term mobility strategy.

The evening opened with an inspiring keynote by Dr. Anjes Tjarks, Hamburg’s Senator for Transport and Mobility Transition, highlighting Hamburg´s role as an innovation hub for future mobility solutions:

“The mobility transition is also an innovation transition. Hamburg hast he opportunity to become a European leader in intelligent and autonomous mobility. Our ambition ist o deploy new technologies where they create real value for people and society“.

The keynote was followed by a high-level panel discussion featuring:

Anna-Theresa Korbutt, Managing Director, Hamburger Verkehrsverbund (HVV)

• Thorsten Möginger, Head of Autonomous Mobility, Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV)

• Tobias Liebelt, CEO, BENTELER Mobility

Benjamin Pfeifer, Chief Commercial Officer, ioki

The discussion explored autonomous shuttle systems, the future of public transport, innovative mobility concepts for cities and regions, and the key conditions required to successfully scale autonomous mobility across Germany and Europe.

As Dr. Hans H. Hamer, CEO of HEY/MOBILITY HAMBURG, noted:

“Autonomous mobility is no longer a question of if, but of when and where it will scale. Turning vision into reality requires close collaboration between policymakers, public transport operators, vehicle manufacturers, and technology providers.”

Tobias Liebelt, CEO of BENTELER Mobility, added:

“Technology, regulation, and market demand must come together to enable the gradual and economically viable integration of autonomous mobility into existing transportation systems. Hamburg is taking a pioneering role in this transformation.”

A sincere thank you to all speakers, partners, and guests for making this PIONEER Reception an outstanding platform for dialogue, collaboration, and new partnerships.

Together, we are driving autonomous mobility from vision to reality.
