HOLON Receives Approval for Autonomous Test Drives on German Roads

HOLON has received approval from the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) in accordance with §16 AFGBV for the HOLON Urban, marking a significant milestone for the company. This approval allows HOLON to test the autonomous shuttle in autonomous driving mode with a safety driver throughout Germany. Dr. Flavio Friesen, HOLON's Vice President of Engineering, emphasizes that this approval is an important step toward introducing autonomous mobility in public transportation. It also underscores confidence in the vehicle's technological maturity.

Autonomous test drives will begin in Hamburg as part of the ALIKE project, in collaboration with Hamburger Hochbahn. In a 37-square-kilometer area in the heart of the Hanseatic city, the vehicle will gather valuable experience in real city traffic. Initially, the test drives will be conducted with a safety driver on board to monitor the vehicle. Dr. Friesen explains that the ALIKE project shares the common goal of transforming mobility and creating a new, comfortable mobility experience.

With nationwide permission under AFGBV, HOLON can test its autonomous systems in various operating environments. The permit, which is valid until the end of 2026, allows testing on federal, state, and county roads nationwide. Dr. Friesen emphasizes that recent progress shows the project is on a stable course and ready for the next step toward a market launch.

Alongside technological and regulatory progress, HOLON is advancing production preparation and global expansion. Preparations are underway in Jacksonville, Florida, for the construction of the first production site. The official groundbreaking ceremony is planned for April 2026.
